About
I am currently a health teacher in a rural Mississippi school district, and I adjunct world history and American history classes at a local community college. I also own a genealogy research firm, Family History Research Services. Museums are my true passion. My work experience has focused on collections management duties in both archives and museums. I have worked in art museums, historic house museums, community college and university archives and museums, and religious archives, including the Southern Baptist Historical Library and Archives and the Disciples of Christ Historical Society. I also have worked in oral history, completing interviews for the Albert Gore Research Center's "Narrating Katrina Through Oral History" project at Middle Tennessee State University.
My Master's thesis dealt with the legacy of Hurricane Camille, one of the worst natural disasters on the Mississippi Gulf coast, the lessons learned (or unlearned) from that storm, and the application of those lessons in the wake of Hurricane Katrina in the same area.
I am also quite interested in alternative history, as reflected in my research interests, especially dark tourism and the paranormal. It is my hope to spin these general topics into a dissertation at some point.
